Transport

Charterers, particularly from outside the United Kingdom, often have difficulty arranging transport between airports and the marinas. Over the years we have been using several coach, bus and taxi companies to provide this service.

We need to know the:

  • airport being used;
  • flight numbers;
  • arrival/departure times at the airport
  • number in the party.

Sometimes charterers choose flights arriving or departing during the night and as our staff tend to work between 9am and 8pm at weekends, arrivals and departures outside these hours can provide real problems for us. The charterer should consider booking a daytime flight or booking into an hotel for the night.

The journey from Glasgow City airport to Craobh can take 3 hours which, by small bus or mini bus, can cost £250 each way. A longer journey from Glasgow Prestwick or Edinburgh airports can cost over £300 each way.

En route to the yacht, the driver can stop for shopping at a supermarket at no extra charge. We will try to provide the incoming charter party with the driver’s mobile phone number to facilitate making contact. Similarly, where possible, he will be given the charterers’ number. Should a larger coach be needed for a larger party, a price will be obtained.

Kip marina is closer to all the airports so that journey times are shorter and costs less.
